For Le Bar Mayor, we transformed a residential basement in Redondo Beach into a secret speakeasy and guest suite hidden behind an unassuming door. Wrapped in Schumacher grasscloth and Concrete Collaborative tile, the space layers bold materiality and mood to turn formerly overlooked square footage into an immersive escape. We designed it to function as both a cocktail lounge and a boutique-hotel- style retreat, complete with a pullout sofa, a bathroom, hidden storage under the stairs, and a concealed work nook tucked behind the bar. The result is a playful, transportive space that feels intimate, unexpected, and fully removed from the everyday.
